Scripture Focus
“I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble.” — Proverbs 4:11–12 (ESV)
Devotional Thought
As Solomon instructs his son, he speaks with both wisdom and confidence. He has taught him the right way to live and led him toward paths that honor God. Then he gives a promise: when you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble.
This is not a promise of a trouble-free life. Scripture never teaches that the wise are exempt from hardship, opposition, or pain. Storms still come. Trials still arise. Enemies still attack. But the promise is deeper than outward ease. It is the promise that wisdom steadies your feet in the middle of life’s difficulties.
God’s truth keeps us from being trapped by foolish choices. His commands guard us from paths that destroy. His wisdom gives clarity when confusion surrounds us. What could have caused us to fall is often avoided when we walk in the ways He has taught us.
For believers, wisdom ultimately points us to God Himself. He is our guide, our protector, and the One who establishes our steps. As we trust Him and obey His Word, He strengthens us to keep moving forward without being overcome.
But there is also a warning in this passage. These promises belong to those who walk in the path of wisdom. If we reject God’s counsel, live hypocritically, or insist on our own way, we should not expect the stability that comes from obedience. God’s blessings are not found in rebellion.
The call today is simple: keep walking in His ways. Apply what He has taught you. Follow His direction in the ordinary steps of life. When you do, He will sustain you, steady you, and keep you from falling.

Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for teaching me the way of wisdom and leading me in paths that are right. Help me to trust Your guidance and obey Your Word each day. Keep my feet steady when trials come, and guard me from stumbling through foolishness or pride. Teach me to walk faithfully with You and to rely on Your strength in every step. In Jesus’ name, amen.
