Devotional Thought
Psalm 68:19 gives us a powerful and encouraging picture of who God is toward His people. The ESV tells us that He “daily bears us up,” while the KJV says He “daily loadeth us with benefits.” Together, these phrases give us a fuller understanding: God not only sustains us—He actively blesses us. This is not occasional care. It is daily.
God is not distant or distracted. Unlike us, He is never unaware of our needs or too overwhelmed to care. We may fail to notice the struggles of others or become consumed with our own concerns, but God never does. He is perfectly attentive, fully aware, and constantly working on behalf of His people.
And His intention is not merely to help us survive—it is to bless us. Sometimes we think of God’s provision as just enough to “get by.” But Scripture paints a much bigger picture. Malachi 3:10 describes God pouring out blessing so abundantly that there is no room to contain it. That same heart of generosity is reflected in Psalm 68. God does not give sparingly—He gives generously, consistently, and faithfully.
Yet many of these blessings are easy to overlook because they are not always material. Yes, God often provides physically—but His greatest blessings are spiritual. Strength for today. Peace in the middle of difficulty. Grace to endure. Wisdom for decisions. And above all, the greatest gift: salvation.
David reminds us that God is our salvation. That is the highest blessing we could ever receive. Every other blessing flows from that reality. When we begin to see life through this lens, it changes our perspective. Every breath we take, every heartbeat, every moment of grace is evidence that God is still “loading us with benefits.” Nothing we have is ultimately self-produced—it is all grace.
Maybe that’s why the old hymn says, “Count your blessings.” Because when you truly start counting, you realize they never run out. So today, don’t just ask for what you need—pause and recognize what God has already given. You may find that you are far more blessed than you realized.

- What are some blessings in your life that you may have been overlooking?
- How does remembering that God is your salvation change your perspective on daily struggles?
- What would it look like for you to intentionally “count your blessings” today?
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for being a God who not only sustains me but blesses me daily. Forgive me for the times I overlook Your goodness or take Your provision for granted. Help me to recognize Your hand in every part of my life—from the smallest gifts to the greatest blessing of salvation. Teach me to trust You, to thank You, and to rest in Your faithful care. In Jesus’ name, amen.
