Scripture Focus
“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ..” – 1 Peter 1:6-7 (ESV)
Devotional Thought
Peter gives us a powerful perspective on why our faith is tested. It’s not random. It’s not wasted. It has an eternal purpose—that our faith would result in praise, glory, and honor to God when Jesus is revealed.
When your faith is tested and you continue to trust God, it points beyond you—it points to Him. When you trust God in hardship, God is honored. When you endure without giving up, God is glorified. When you remain faithful, God is shown to be worthy. Your faith becomes a living testimony of God’s greatness.
It’s easy to say “God is good” when life is going well. But when life is hard—and you still say, “I trust Him”—that declares something far deeper. It tells the world that God is not only good when things are easy, but that He is worthy even when life is difficult.
Faith in the fire shines brighter than faith in comfort. Every trial becomes an opportunity to display the worth of God. Every hardship is a stage on which your faith declares, “He is still good. He is still faithful. He is still worth trusting.”
And Peter reminds us—this doesn’t just matter now. One day, when Jesus returns, your refined and proven faith will result in praise and glory and honor to God for all eternity.
What you are walking through today is preparing you for that moment.

Closing Prayer
Lord, help me to trust You not only when life is easy, but especially when it is hard. Strengthen my faith so that my life points others to Your worth and Your goodness. Let my response in every trial bring You praise, glory, and honor. In Jesus’ name, amen.
