Making Disciples Day 4: Stay Focused on the Mission

Scripture Focus

“But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”— Acts 20:24 (ESV)

Devotional Thought

Paul lived with laser focus. He didn’t chase comfort, recognition, or security—his only aim was to finish his course and fulfill the ministry Jesus gave him. For Paul, life was not about preserving himself but proclaiming Christ.

Every believer has a mission: to testify to the gospel of God’s grace. Yet distractions constantly pull at us—fear, fatigue, the opinions of others, even good things that quietly replace the best thing. Paul reminds us that discipleship requires single-minded devotion to Christ’s calling.

Focus doesn’t mean life will be easy; it means you know why you’re enduring the hard things. When the Spirit led Paul toward Jerusalem, he knew trials awaited him. But he kept going because his life wasn’t his own. He had surrendered it to a greater purpose—the glory of God.

To make disciples like Paul, we must learn to say no to distractions and yes to obedience. When our hearts are fixed on finishing the race, we won’t be swayed by comfort, comparison, or compromise.

Our mission is clear: keep proclaiming Jesus until the course is done.

Reflection Questions

1. What distractions most often pull your attention away from God’s mission?

2. How can you realign your priorities this week to stay focused on what truly matters?

Closing Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me a mission worth living for. Help me to fix my eyes on You and not be distracted by fear, pride, or comfort. Strengthen my resolve to finish the course You’ve set before me with faith, endurance, and joy. Amen.
