Making Disciples Day 3: Teach God’s Word- All of It

Scripture Focus

“How I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house… for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.”— Acts 20:20, 27 (ESV)

Devotional Thought

Paul was a courageous teacher. Twice in this passage he says, “I did not shrink.” In other words, he didn’t hold back or water down the truth. Whether in the synagogue, the marketplace, or a home, he declared the whole counsel of God.

That’s what disciple-making requires—faithfulness to the entire truth of Scripture, not just the parts that are comfortable or popular. Paul knew that real growth comes when believers hear all that God has said, even when it challenges their assumptions or exposes sin. He wasn’t interested in building crowds; he wanted to build conviction.

Today, there’s pressure to soften the message—to skip over repentance, judgment, or holiness. But half-truths make weak disciples. God’s Word must be taught in its fullness because it is profitable—it corrects, trains, and equips us for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16–17).

Teaching the truth doesn’t mean being harsh; it means being faithful. Love compels us to speak truth, because only truth leads to freedom (John 8:31–32). The best disciple-makers don’t just comfort hearts—they conform them to Christ through the Word of God.

When we teach God’s truth—all of it—we help others stand firm in a world that constantly shifts.

Reflection Questions

1. Are there parts of Scripture you tend to avoid because they’re uncomfortable or unpopular?

2. How can you lovingly share God’s truth with others this week?

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your Word that guides, corrects, and transforms me. Give me courage to teach Your truth fully and faithfully. Help me never to shrink back from what is profitable, but to speak Your Word in love so others may be set free and grow strong in Christ. Amen.
