Scripture Focus
“So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.” – 2 Corinthians 5:6 (ESV)
Devotional Thought
Paul lived with a constant awareness of weakness—his body was a tent, fragile and temporary. Yet instead of despairing, he spoke of good courage. How could he do that? Because his courage was not grounded in circumstances but in Christ. He knew that even though his earthly body kept him physically away from the full presence of the Lord, that separation was only temporary.
The world often equates courage with strength, bravado, or self-reliance. But Christian courage is different. It is the calm confidence that comes from knowing the end of the story. Weakness is temporary. Suffering has an expiration date. God’s promises are sure, and His Spirit gives strength for every trial.
Paul could endure anything because he knew it would end well. That’s why he could write, “We do not lose heart” (2 Corinthians 4:16). Even though his outer self was wasting away, his inner self was being renewed day by day. Good courage is not the absence of fear or weakness; it is trust in God’s presence and promises in the middle of them.

Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You that in my weakness, You are strong. Teach me to live with good courage, not because I am able but because You are faithful. Remind me daily that this life is not all there is, and give me strength to walk with hope until I see You face to face. Amen.
