📖 “Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” – Isaiah 55:6–7
Devotional Thought
It’s amazing how quickly our hearts can wander from God. One moment we’re walking closely with Him, and the next we find ourselves distracted, chasing after the world, or even outright rebelling. This has always been the human pattern—just as Israel in the Old Testament repeatedly turned away and then cried out to God for restoration.
But Isaiah gives us a powerful reminder: when we stray, we don’t have to stay away. God invites us to return immediately. He doesn’t meet us with coldness or reluctance, but with compassion and abundant pardon. His thoughts are higher than ours, and His mercy is greater than we can imagine.
When we delay returning, we only prolong the distance and deepen the wound. The wisest choice is always to run back into His presence right away. No matter how far you’ve wandered, His arms remain open.
Reflection Questions
1. Have I strayed from God recently—maybe not outwardly, but in my heart or thoughts?
2. What usually keeps me from running back to God quickly when I fall? Pride? Shame? Fear?
3. How does God’s promise of compassion and abundant pardon encourage me to return without delay?
4. What practical steps can I take today to realign my heart with Him?
Closing Prayer
Father, I confess how easily I stray from You. Too often I let distractions, pride, or sin pull me away, and instead of returning quickly, I linger in guilt and shame. Thank You for Your compassion and abundant pardon that is always available when I turn back to You. Help me to be quick to repent, quick to run into Your arms, and quick to trust in Your mercy. Draw me close today and keep my heart steady in Your ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
