📖 “…that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” – 1 Peter 1:7

Devotional Thought

Trials are not a matter of if but when. At any given time, we are either walking through a trial, coming out of one, or about to enter another. Life in a broken world guarantees hardship—but life in Christ guarantees hope.

Peter reminds us that because of Jesus’ resurrection, we have a living hope and an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade. This eternal promise contrasts with the pain of our present struggles. While difficulties weigh heavily, they are never without purpose. God uses trials like a refiner’s fire, burning away impurities so that our faith shines brighter and stronger.

Gold is valuable, but even it perishes. Faith, however, refined through testing, endures forever. In the fire, God does not abandon us—He sustains us, protects us, and shapes us into vessels that bring Him glory. The trial may not end immediately, but He promises to see us through to the other side.

Reflection Questions

1. Which of the “three places” am I in today: in a trial, coming out of one, or about to enter one?

2. How does remembering my eternal inheritance in Christ help me endure temporary struggles?

3. Can I look back on a past trial and see how God used it to strengthen my faith?

4. What “impurities” might God be refining in me right now through difficulty?

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for the living hope I have through Jesus Christ. In the midst of trials, remind me that You are refining my faith and shaping me into Your likeness. Help me not to resist the fire but to trust that You are with me in it. Strengthen me to endure, remove what does not belong, iand let my life bring praise, glory, and honor to You. I place my trials in Your hands today, knowing You will see me through. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
