Scripture Focus
“But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…” – 1 Timothy 6:11–12
Devotional Thought
The Christian life is not meant to be passive—it’s a battle. Paul’s charge to Timothy was not to coast, not to compromise, but to fight the good fight of faith. Sadly, many believers confuse weakness with surrender. Instead of resisting sin, we excuse it. Instead of battling temptation, we accept defeat.
But make no mistake—the enemy is real, and he has no intention of retreating on his own. If we give up the fight, he takes more ground in our lives, our homes, and our churches. Yet through Christ, we are not powerless. We are called to put on the full armor of God, to flee sin, to pursue holiness, and to stand firm until the appearing of our Lord.
The question we must ask is this: are we truly fighting, or have we already laid down our weapons?
Reflection Questions
1. Do I view my Christian life as an active fight against sin, or have I settled into complacency?
2. In what areas of my life have I allowed the enemy to gain a foothold?
3. What practical step can I take today to “flee” sin and instead pursue righteousness?
4. Am I relying on my own strength, or am I daily putting on the armor of God through prayer and His Word?
Closing Prayer
Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve surrendered ground to the enemy instead of standing firm in You. Teach me to fight the good fight of faith—not in my own strength, but through Your Spirit. Clothe me in Your armor, give me courage to resist temptation, and strengthen me to pursue righteousness every day. May my life reflect Your victory until the day Christ returns. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
