Scripture Focus
“Do not trust in deceptive words, saying, ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’ … Behold, you are trusting in deceptive words to no avail.” – Jeremiah 7:4, 8
Devotional Thought
Revival doesn’t begin in a church service or a special event—it begins in the heart. One of the greatest barriers to personal revival is pride. Like Israel, we can assume our religious heritage, church attendance, or denominational label somehow makes us secure, even while ignoring the sin in our lives.
God isn’t moved by empty words or external appearances. He calls His people to humble repentance, to lay down dignity and self-justification, and to surrender to His Spirit. True revival begins when we stop pointing fingers outward and allow God to break our own pride.
Reflection Questions
1. In what ways might I be relying on my “church identity” instead of true repentance and surrender?
2. How has pride kept me from responding to the Spirit—whether in worship, prayer, or confession?
3. Do I believe revival starts with me personally, or do I expect it to happen somewhere else first?
4. What step of humility can I take today to open my heart fully to God’s work?
Closing Prayer Father, forgive me for the pride that blinds me and keeps me from true revival. Break down the walls I’ve built and strip away my self-justification. Teach me to humble myself before You, to repent sincerely, and to seek Your presence above all else. Let revival begin in my heart today and spread wherever You will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
